The Embassy of Bangladesh in Libya has issued an emergency alert for Bangladeshi nationals residing in the country.
The alert was released on Tuesday, May 13, in response to rising tensions and security concerns in the capital, Tripoli.
According to the alert, the Libyan Ministry of Interior has urged all residents of Tripoli to remain indoors and avoid going outside unless absolutely necessary, following the arrival of several armed convoys and the resulting instability in the city.
In line with this directive, the Bangladesh Embassy has advised all Bangladeshi citizens in Tripoli to exercise extreme caution, stay at home, and prioritize their safety.
Citizens are further requested to remain vigilant and avoid any unnecessary movement until the situation stabilizes.
Libya has been experiencing ongoing political turmoil and conflict since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime in 2011.
Despite efforts to establish a unified government, the country remains divided between rival factions, often resulting in outbreaks of violence.
Bangladeshis form a significant part of Libya’s migrant workforce, many of whom are involved in construction, agriculture, and domestic work.
Given the volatile security situation, the embassy’s warning serves as a crucial reminder for expatriates to stay informed and take protective measures during times of unrest.
