In a major development, former Dhaka-7 Member of Parliament, Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin, has been arrested by the police.
The arrest took place early in the morning on Monday, January 20, at the Mansurabad Housing area in Mohammadpur, Dhaka.
The news was confirmed by Muhammad Talebur Rahman, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police`s Media and Public Relations Division.
According to DC Talebur Rahman, Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin, who previously served as an MP, is named in several criminal cases, including one related to murder.
These cases are connected to the anti-discrimination student movement.
The arrest came after the police acted on specific information and intelligence gathered.
The police have confirmed that legal proceedings are now in motion, and further actions are being taken in accordance with the law.
