State Minister of Shipping and President of Bangladesh Tennis Federation Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said, "Tennis is still at the primary level. Earlier at primary level students who are tennis players, used to drop out; They couldn`t go to secondary level. Even though now being at primary level they are not dropping out and this is a big achievement".
"Currently parents and various sports organizations are showing interest in tennis. The results are promising. From one tennis player a hundred thousand players will come out from there", he added.
The state minister said these things in an event with the members of the executive committee of the federation at the conference room of the Tennis Federation in Dhaka on Tuesday.
He said, "The activities of the Tennis Federation are playing a role in the national and international arena. The popularity of tennis has not decreased. We need to create tennis celebrities. Then the gallery will be full to watch them play."
The state minister further said, "With great expectations, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given the responsibility to Nazmul Hasan Papon. After 40 years I got a cabinet minister in the field of sports. He is leading the sports arena serving as the President of the Cricket Board. The lost glory of sports including tennis will return under his leadership".
