Police have filed a lawsuit against 42 leaders and activists of left students' organisations for staging a protest against the record price hike of fuel oil.
The case was filed on Monday a day after the law enforcers foiled the demonstration and beat them up at Shahbagh during the protest.
Police filed the case against 21 nammed and 21 unnamed leaders and activists under sections 143, 147, 149, 186, 332, 333, 353, 307 and 109 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for obstructing police in discharging their duties.
The protestors also carried out an attack on the police with sticks to kill them, according to the case statement.
