Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has decided to increase the price of gold by Tk 1,190 to Tk 1,20,081 per bhori. This is the highest price of gold in the history of the country.
This information was informed in a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, Chairman of the BAJUS Price Determination and Price Monitoring Standing Committee on Sunday.
It is said that the price of pure gold has increased in the local market. As a result, the new price of gold has been fixed considering the overall situation. Which will be effective from Monday.
According to the new price, per bhari (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold will cost Tk 120,081. The amount for 21-carat and 18carat gold now stands at Tk114,622 taka and Tk98,000 respectively while per bhori traditional gold is priced at Tk81,229.
According to BAJUS, the selling price of gold must be subject to government-mandated VAT of 5 per cent and BAJUS-mandated minimum wage of 6 per cent. However, the wages may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.
