Govt extends tenure of consensus commission until September 15

The government has extended the tenure of the National Consensus Commission until September 15, effective immediately.

A gazette notification signed by Cabinet Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid was issued today confirming the extension.

The commission was originally formed under Gazette SRO No-55 Act, 2025, issued on February 12.

Professor Dr. Ali Riaz, head of the Constitution Reform Commission, serves as the vice-president of the National Consensus Commission. Other members include Dr. M. Aiyub Mia from the Public Administration Reform Commission, Safar Raj Hossain of the Police Administration Reform Commission, Badiul Alam Majumder of the Election System Reform Commission, Justice Emdadul Huq from the Judiciary Reform Commission, and Dr. Iftekharuzzaman of the Anti-Corruption Commission Reform Commission.

The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs provides secretarial support to the commission.
