The remaining Bangladeshi residents are being evacuated to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on four chartered planes that Bangladesh is conducting at its own expense from Sudan.
According to State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, three of the chartered flights will take off today (May 10, 2023), and the fourth one will take off the next day.
He said the government has sent required financial support for providing food to Bangladeshis who are waiting in Sudan.
They will take off for Dhaka as soon as they get in Jeddah.
As many as 136 people from Bangladesh landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Tuesday.
They received coordinated aid from Biman Bangladesh Airlines as they traveled from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to Dhaka, Bangladesh, thanks to the provision of flying tickets by IOM through its internal emergency assistance funding procedures.
The Wage Earners' Welfare Board (Tk 3,000) and IOM (Tk 2,000) supplied meals and further transportation allowance to the returnees upon their arrival.
