In the past 24 hours, four more people have died due to dengue, while 247 patients were admitted to hospitals with the disease. The deaths occurred between 8 a.m. on Friday, August 22, and 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 23.
So far this year, dengue has claimed the lives of 114 people, and a total of 28,202 patients have been hospitalized.
According to a press release from the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday, among the newly admitted patients in the last 24 hours, 56 were from Barishal Division, 57 from Chattogram Division, 31 from Dhaka Division, 32 from Dhaka North City Corporation, 68 from Dhaka South City Corporation, and 3 from Mymensingh Division.
DGHS data shows that since January, 1,161 patients were hospitalized in January, 374 in February, 336 in March, 701 in April, 1,773 in May, 5,951 in June, and 10,684 in July. Among them, 10 people died in January, 3 in February, 7 in April, 3 in May, 19 in June, and 41 in July.
So far in August, 7,222 patients have been admitted with dengue, and 31 have died.
