The government aims to structure the country’s economy through three phases—recovery, transition, and reconstruction—said the Prime Minister, as quoted by Tarique Rahman.

Speaking on the 18th working day of the second session (budget session) of the 13th National Parliament today (Monday), he made these remarks in his speech.

He said, “Although there is some consensus and some disagreements between the government and the opposition in this Parliament, we have been able to inspire hope among the people. However, while we have spoken extensively about the future in Parliament, we have spoken even more about the past. But the people want us to talk about the future.”

The Prime Minister said, “This budget will be well-structured, normal, and realistic. It will bring some relief for people from all walks of life. After the withdrawal of duties on 61 products in this budget, prices have remained stable. We do not want to ignore the country’s various crises, nor do we want to use them as excuses.”

He further stated, “Due to the people of the country, we are able to come to Parliament and contribute to the country’s progress. Massive foreign loans taken during the previous government have created a burden from project implementation, which the people will have to carry for many years.”

Tarique Rahman said, “This budget is not just an annual statement of income and expenditure; through it, we aim to build a foundation for the economy. The goal of the budget is to create a just, humane, and inclusive economy. It is a budget to ease the burden on low-income people. The main objective is to gradually restore discipline in the economy.”
