Students of Dhaka College who have been protesting for half pass in public transport left roads announcing a 24-hour ultimatum.
Protesters lifted the blockade following the assurance of the teachers and members of law enforcing agencies on Thursday (November 18).
Talking to the media the agitating students said, the administration assured of half fare in public transports. So we left the road. But, if the assurance is not enforced within Saturday (November 20), tougher programmes would be declared.
“A faction of Dhaka College students blockaded highways pressing half fare in public transports. Later, the college’s teachers and we convinced the protesters and they retreated. Hopefully, we will reach a consensus talking to the owners association,” said Officer in Charge Gias Uddin of New Market police station.
