The court has awarded 30 years of jail term to health department’s driver Abdul Malek alias Badal in a case filed under weapon act.
Dhaka Metropolitan third Session judge Rabiul Alam pronounced the verdict around 12 pm Monday (September 20).
Earlier on September 13 the court fixed today to deliver the verdict following argument of the defence and prosecution. The court testified all 13 witnesses of the case.
On September 9, Malek pleaded not guilty to the court claiming him innocent.
Dhaka metropolitan session judge KM Imrul Kayesh ordered to transfer the case to third additional session judge court for settling the case.
A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) 1 nabbed driver Abdul Malek from Turag area in the capital on September 20 last year. A foreign-made pistol, a magazine, five rounds, 1.5 lakh Bangladeshi fake notes, a laptop and mobile phone were recovered.
