Home Affairs Adviser, Lieutenant General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, recently addressed the ongoing discussions around Bangladesh`s border security.
Speaking at a ceremony for new BCS and Judicial Service officers on Sunday, January 19, he pointed out that while the previous government didn’t raise concerns about the border, the current government is taking a firm stance, which has sparked extensive conversation.
He made it clear that the government will not back down on the issue of securing the country’s borders.
"While there may have been concessions made to India in the past, the current government is ensuring that everything we are legally entitled to is being claimed," he said.
He also revealed that future meetings at the DG level are planned to find a solution to border-related challenges.
In his speech, the Home Affairs Adviser also touched on the country`s ongoing battle with corruption, stressing that the government is committed to a zero-tolerance policy towards it.
He further addressed the growing complexities regarding land issues, which are reducing agricultural land in the country.
To tackle this, he strongly emphasized the need for a Land Protection Law, calling it an urgent requirement for the times.
