The International Crimes Tribunal has ordered an investigation into former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s involvement in the July-August genocide case.

The Tribunal has instructed that the investigation be completed within a month. The order was given on Monday, November 18, after a hearing in the genocide case.

Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder, the chairman of the Tribunal, along with two other judges, also asked for a report on the investigation’s progress to be submitted by December 17.

In a related case, hearings began on Monday for 13 people, including nine former ministers, who have been arrested on charges of involvement in the July-August killings and crimes against humanity.

At 10:50 AM, the accused were brought to the Tribunal from jail.

The hearing began shortly after, at 11:00 AM. Before the hearing, the accused were transported to the Tribunal from Keraniganj Central Jail in a prison van.

This is the first time these individuals, who are part of a group of 46 people with arrest warrants, have appeared before the Tribunal.

They are facing serious charges of crimes against humanity.

The accused include former ministers Anisul Haque, Faruk Khan, Dr. Dipu Moni, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haq Inu, Shahjahan Khan, Junaid Ahmed Palak, Salman F Rahman, Dr. Towfiq-Ilahi Chowdhury, Kamal Ahmed Mojumdar, Golam Dostagir Gazi, retired judge Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, and former Home Secretary Jahangir Alam.

One of the accused, Abdus Razzaq, was not brought to the Tribunal because he is in remand for a separate case.

Shahjahan Khan, who had initially refused to attend due to illness, was later brought to the Tribunal along with the other accused.

Earlier, on October 27, the Tribunal had ordered that these individuals be brought to court for the hearings.
