Leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) held a demonstration today demanding justice for Shahriar Alam Shammo, a Dhaka University student who was fatally stabbed near Suhrawardy Udyan late last night.
Ashraful Islam Rafi, a fellow student, said Shammo was from Ullapara, Sirajganj, and was enrolled in the Institute of Education and Research (2018–19 session).
He lived in Room 222 of a university dormitory.
According to Rafi, the incident occurred when Shammo`s motorcycle collided with another near Suhrawardy Udyan.
The crash led to an argument and a physical altercation. During the scuffle, unidentified individuals stabbed Shammo in his right thigh before fleeing the scene.
He was later pronounced dead at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Earlier today, police arrested three individuals in connection with the murder.
Ramna Division Deputy Commissioner Masud Alam confirmed that the suspects—Tamim Hawlader (30), Samrat Mallic (28), and Palash Sarder (30)—are not affiliated with the university and are considered outsiders.
