Md Jalal alias Joj Miah, who was wrongly implicated and subsequently languished in jail for a couple of years in a case lodged over August 21 grenade attack on Awami League rally in Bagabandhu Avenue, has sent legal notices seeking compensation.
Eleven people were asked to pay him Tk10 crore in compensation, reports BSS.
Supreme Court lawyers Mohammad Humayun Kabir and Mohammad Kawser sent the notices by post on behalf of Jalal.
The 11 people, who were served with the notice, include Home Secretary, Inspector General of Police (IGP), former BNP State Minister for Home Affairs Md Lutfozzaman Babar, then IGP Khoda Bokhsh Chowdhury, assistant superintendants of police Abdur Rashid and Munshi Atikur Rahman.
It was stated in the notice that Jalal was wrongfully arrested and kept behind bars for the crimes that he had no connection whatsoever. Tk10 crore in compensation was sought for the ordeals he suffered and 15 days time was given to act according to the notice.
