The court has set November 28 to pronounce the verdict in Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) sophomore Abrar Fahad killing case.
Judge Abu Zafar Md. Kamruzzaman of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 fixed the date on Sunday (November 14) following arguments of the state and defence.
22 accused of the case were produced before the court this morning. Three more accused Mustaba Rafid, Muhammad Morshed-uz-Zaman Mandal alias Jishan and Ehtashamul Rabbi Tanim are absconding.
Court took the charge sheet of the case into cognizance on January 21 last year. The charge was framed on September 2.
According to the charge sheet, Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of the Electric and Electronics Engineering department of BUET, was beaten to death bringing false, fabricated and baseless allegations against him.
The accused were taken to remand in several phases. Eight of them gave confessional statements to a magistrate. The deposition of witnesses concluded on March 4.
The body of Abrar Fahad was found in Buet’s Sher-e-Bangla hall on October 6, 2019. Police pressed a charge sheet against 25 students on November 13 after a case was filed by Abrar’s family.
