Bogura man sells Ashrayan project house, jailed

In a bizarre turn of events, a man in Bogura has sold a house of Ashrayan project that he received in January 2021.

However, he was finally found guilty of doing the criminal act and duly, waas jailed for a month by a mobile court.

The convict is Jamrul Sheikh, 52, of Kadamtoli Ashrayan Project, who sold his house to his neighbour Idris Ali for Tk 70,000 on November 16 last year. He also signed the deed on a Tk 100 stamp paper.

On information, a mobile court led by Bogura Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Firoza Parvin handed over the punishment.

Asked, UNO Parvin said the houses, given by the prime minister, were only for the landless and homeless. "This property is not transferable or salable in any circumstances."

Jamrul said he opened up a grocery store nearby and started living at a rented house there with his family using the money, she added.
