BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called on the interim government to stop seeing political parties as opponents.
Speaking at a discussion meeting in Dhaka on Friday, December 13, held by his party to mark Martyred Intellectuals Day, Fakhrul urged for a more inclusive approach.
He expressed concern over efforts to distort the history of Bangladesh, especially regarding the events of 1971.
"We must stay alert to prevent any manipulation of our history, as has happened in the past 15 years," he said.
Fakhrul also touched on the situation surrounding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, claiming that she is working to regain power with support from India.
He emphasized the need for unity to resist these efforts and ensure a fair political environment.
Dr. Khondokar Mosharraf Hossain, a member of BNP’s Standing Committee, also spoke at the event.
He warned that delaying elections under the excuse of reforms would lead to problems for the government.
He explained that reforms are a continuous process and cannot be rushed.
"The people’s government will eventually carry out these reforms," he said.
He also pointed out that announcing an electoral roadmap would help the public focus on the upcoming elections.
