Bangladesh‍‍`s Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Monday expressed his displeasure over the inaccurate statements made in the six Congressmen‍‍`s letter about the country‍‍`s Hindu and Christian populations.

The ruling Awami League party has been criticising their recent letter for its content, saying that they mimicked nothing but the BNP.

The text addressing the country‍‍`s religious minority, according to the foreign minister, is inaccurate.

He stated of the letter‍‍`s contents, which he claimed contained false information, "It‍‍`s not true," to reporters on Monday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Such letters need to be properly verified before being sent, he added.

According to Momen, the exchange of these letters causes headaches for everyone concerned, but people, especially journalists, should query false information.

“For God’s sake, don’t destroy the country. This country belongs to all,” he made reference to political parties that participate in hiring lobbyists to launch defamation campaigns against the nation but he did not mention any party.

Momen urged them to employ lobbyists for the country‍‍`s welfare, such as how to expand Bangladesh‍‍`s energy supply and increase employment prospects.

The foreign minister stated that the government is still committed to holding free and fair elections in the country during the upcoming general election.

He asserted that in order to guarantee a free and impartial election, all political parties must show honesty and dedication.

US President Joe Biden will host Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an official state-level visit to the US, which will include a state dinner on June 22.
Asked whether the Bangladesh issue will be there, Momen said they will discuss what they will feel good about.

The minister said he has nothing to talk about that meeting. “India is a mature democratic country. India has a very strong leadership.”

Asked about PM Sheikh Hasina’s likely visit to China, the Foreign Minister said it is a wrong statement that PM Hasina is going to China.
He said the Chinese side invited the PM in September, but Bangladesh conveyed that the PM will be occupied in New York at that time.

In response to a query, the foreign minister stated that he just had a very positive meeting with his Indian counterpart, Dr. S. Jaishankar.

"We have talked about a lot of things. Working at the same pace as one another. I am so happy. They have treated us with great respect, he remarked.
