If a free and fair election is held, Taimur is hopeful of winning the polls by one lakh vote margin.
Narayanganj City Corporation polls' independent mayoral candidate Taimur Alam Khandakar made this statement after casting his vote at Narayanganj Islamia Kamil Madrasah Center in Masdair.
Regarding the voting atmosphere, he said as of now the situation is good.
“Although voting is yet to gain momentum, one of his agents was not allowed to enter a polling station in Siddhirganj 5 no ward. I’ve asked the leaders of that area to look into this, and I'm going to see for myself,” he added.
He said some voters were barred from coming to the polling centers and urged the administration to allow voters to enter the voting centers as an ID card is not required to cast vote.
“It is possible to match fingerprints. Voting rights should be granted to those whose fingerprints match. The streets are being blocked by police as they look for ID cards. This is something that should not be done,” Taimur said.
