Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, "No Upazila of Bangladesh will be landless and homeless. We are making arrangements so that no person will remain without a home. We are not only building houses, but we are also providing water, clean water and electricity. Loans are being given to the landless and homeless. We have taken measures so that they can do the work they want to do".
She said this while speaking as the chief guest at the ceremony of handing over land and houses to 39 thousand and 365 landless and homeless families virtually from Gana bhaban on Wednesday (March, 22).
The Prime Minister said that 159 upazilas have become completely landless and homeless. Earlier, 52 upazilas including all the upazilas of Magura district besides Panchagarh have been made landless and homeless.
"Every person will get a house and will not be a burden to anyone. They will stand on their own feet. If anyone becomes landless due to any natural disaster they will be provided home. During the devastating cyclone of 1991 the then Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia did not take any action", added the PM.
