PM pays tribute to martyred army officers of 2009 carnage

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Wednesday paid homage to the army officers who were killed in the 2009 BDR carnage, at the Banani Military Graveyard in Dhaka.

The prime minister laid a wreath at the graves of the martyred officers around 10:12am on the occasion of National Martyred Army Day.

Following the wreath-laying, a one-minute silence was observed to honour the memories of the fallen officers.
Later, fateha and special prayers were offered, seeking forgiveness and eternal peace for the departed souls.

Prayers were also made for the welfare of the country and its people.

The 2009 tragedy, one of the darkest chapters in the country’s history, claimed the lives of dozens of army officers during a mutiny at the then Bangladesh Rifles headquarters.
