Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in Jashore on Sunday morning on his first official visit to the district since taking office.
He landed at Jashore Airport around 10:20am, where he was received by State Minister Aninda Islam Amit and State Minister Mir Shahe Alam, according to officials.
From the airport, the prime minister went to the Circuit House before beginning his scheduled programmes.
During the daylong visit, he is set to inaugurate the Ulashi Canal re-excavation project in Sharsha upazila and attend a civic reception.
He will also lay the foundation stone of Jashore Medical College Hospital and later address a public rally at the district’s Eidgah ground.
The premier left Dhaka in the morning and is expected to return in the evening after completing his engagements.
He last visited Jashore in February, when he addressed an election rally ahead of the national polls.
