Quader urges to withdraw transport strike

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader urged the transport owners and workers to withdraw the strike sine die they declared in protest of rising fuel oil prices.

Quader, also the general secretary of ruling Awami Leauge, said this while talking to the reporters at his residence in the capital on Friday (November 5).

Transport owners declared a nationwide strike from 6am Friday protesting the hike of diesel and kerosene prices. Vehicular movement was suspended across the country including capital Dhaka leaving grave sufferings for the people, especially the admission and job seekers.

“The committee to fix the fare of public transport will hold a meeting on November 7. The fare will be set afresh based on discussion among the stakeholders.
