State minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Sunday said the ongoing restrictions enforced to contain the spread of coronavirus are likely to be extended once again if the National Technical Advisory Committee (NTAC) on Covid-19 recommends.
It completely depends on the situation whether the restrictions would be continued up to Eid-ul-Azha, he said.
The minister made the disclosure while talking to newsmen at the secretariat on Sunday.
He said there is no scope to return to normal life at the moment as the deaths from Covid-19 and new cases have been increasing for the last couple of days.
The government has enforced strict restrictions from 1 July to 14 July to stem the massive surge in Covid cases.
When asked, Khalid Mahmud replied, “Eid will come many times to our lives if we survive.”
The state minister further said there is no scope to allow vehicles to operate amid the strict restrictions. However, if the restrictions are withdrawn, transport will run on a limited scale.
