The girls of Bangladesh recovered the Champion’s title of SAFF U-16 football, beating team India in the final at Kathmandu on Sunday.
Yearzan Begum, the goalkeeper of Bangladesh team emerged as the hero of the final by saving three crucial attempts, propelling Bangladesh to victory after the match turned into a tiebreaker.
Yearzan`s amazing performance proved pivotal, especially as key players Sauravi Akanda Prity and Alpi Akter missed their shots.
India initially took the lead with Anushka Kumari`s goal in the fourth minute, but Bangladesh balanced it in the 71st minute with a header from Mariam Binte Hanna.
Throughout the championship, Bangladesh maintained an undefeated record, entering the final with a flawless win in the tournament.
With today’s victory Bangladesh reclaimed the title they first secured in 2017.
