Salman F. Rahman, former Adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Private Industry and Investment, and Anisul Huq, former Law Minister, have been shown arrested in new cases.
A total of eight high-profile individuals were arrested in these cases on Monday (January 20), following the order of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka.
Other prominent figures who were also arrested are former Social Welfare Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, former State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, former Minister Rashed Khan Menon, former Member of Parliament Haji Salim, and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun.
Earlier in the day, police officers from different stations presented these political figures before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
They requested that the court officially recognize their arrests in the respective cases, which the court agreed to.
Court records show that Salman F. Rahman has been linked to four cases under Jatrabari Police Station and one case under Mohammadpur Police Station.
Anisul Huq has been named in seven cases under Jatrabari Police Station, one under Mohammadpur Police Station, and one under Khilgaon Police Station.
Dr. Dipu Moni is involved in two cases filed under Jatrabari Police Station.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak has been tied to two cases in Jatrabari Police Station and one case under Sutrapur Police Station.
Rashed Khan Menon is shown arrested in five cases under Jatrabari Police Station.
Meanwhile, Hasanul Haq Inu has been shown arrested in five cases from Jatrabari Police Station, Haji Selim in one case from the same station, and Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has been tied to six cases in Jatrabari, two cases in Mohammadpur, two in Sutrapur, and one case in Khilgaon Police Station.
The arrests have attracted widespread attention, given the prominence of the individuals involved.
