The district administration in Feni has issued section 144 starting Wednesday (December 29) from 6:00 am till 6:00 pm over BNP-Jubo League's announcement of political programme in Feni city's Wapda Field on the same day.
Both the parties announced rally on the same day in Wapda Field of Shaheed Shahidullah street in Feni. Deputy Commissioner Abu Selim Mahmud-ul Hasan confirmed the matter on Tuesday (December 27) night.
The deputy commissioner said, BNP was scheduled to hold a rally at Wapda field on Tuesday (December 28). However, the rally was postponed due to some unavoidable reasons. BNP's request to hold a rally at the same place on Wednesday (December 29) was submitted to the police.
He further added that the BNP was not allowed to hold the rally as they were not able to provide necessary information required to hold rally. On the other hand, the district Jubo League has sought permission for the party workers to assemble at the same place on the same day.
To avoid any clashes between the two groups over holding political demonstration in the same place, Section 144 has been issued to maintain law and order in the city.
BNP wanted to hold the rally to demonstrate their demand: For party cheif Khaleda Zia's release and advanced treatment abroad.
