Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has arrived in New Delhi to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On Monday morning (June 10), Sheikh Hasina and Narendra Modi will hold a private meeting at Hyderabad House.
Before this, on Sunday evening (June 9), after the swearing-in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Sheikh Hasina will join a state dinner hosted by Indian President Droupadi Murmu.
On Saturday at 11:51 AM, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was welcomed at New Delhi`s Palam Airport by Muktesh Pardeshi, Secretary (CPV & OIA) of India`s Ministry of External Affairs, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma, and Bangladeshi High Commissioner to India Md. Mustafizur Rahman.
Earlier, on Wednesday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited Sheikh Hasina to attend his government’s swearing-in ceremony during a telephone conversation. Global leaders, including Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, will be present at the ceremony.
Regarding the Hasina-Modi meeting, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "This is the first discussion between the top leaders of the two neighboring South Asian countries after Modi`s re-election."
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to depart for Dhaka from New Delhi`s Palam Airport on Monday evening after her three-day visit.
