After a long break of nine months, ships carrying tourists have started operating again to Saint Martin. On Sunday, December 1, at 10:30 AM, ships began their journey once more on the Cox‍‍`s Bazar-Saint Martin route.

The ship "Baro Aulia" left from the BIWTC dock at Nuniarchar in Cox‍‍`s Bazar, with 653 passengers onboard, heading to Saint Martin.

The service was originally supposed to start on Thursday, but it was delayed due to a lack of passengers, which caused the ship to miss its scheduled departure.

Recently, a submerged shoal appeared in the Naf River, making it difficult for ships to navigate.

There were also security concerns along the Myanmar border due to gunfire, which led to the suspension of ship services from Teknaf.

As a result, ships were only allowed to leave from Cox‍‍`s Bazar.

In addition, the Department of Environment has started efforts to reduce the use of plastic on Saint Martin Island.

Starting on Saturday, 10 teams were deployed to monitor ships, scan them, and handle other tasks. This work will continue until December 31.

Normally, the government allows ship services on the Teknaf-Saint Martin and Cox‍‍`s Bazar-Saint Martin routes for six months, from October to March, when the sea is calmer.

During the rest of the year, ship operations are halted due to rough sea conditions.
