Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has nabbed 6 members of a bus robbery gang in connection with various crimes including killing a driver of Hanif Enterprise bus at Pirganj of Rangpur District recently.
Five daggers, one looted mobile phone and five mobile phones were recovered from them.
The information was disclosed during a press conference of RAB media wing held in the capital on Sunday (September 5).
The detainees Sri Nayan Chandra Roy (22) son of Sri Susheel Chandra Roy of, Md. Riajul Islam alias Lalu, son of late Razzak Ali, Md. Omar Faruk son of Anwar, Md. Firoz Kabir son of Md. Abu Bakar, Abu Said Molla, son of Md. Abdur Rouf and Shakil Mia were held during a joint drive of RAB-1 and 13 launched on Saturday (September 4).
RAB said, legal actions are underway against the accused.
The Hanif bus was robbed off on August 31 on its way to Panchagarh. The gang were onboard the buss as passengers and stabbed driver Manjur Hossain who succumbed later while undergoing treatment.
Supervisor of the bus Md Poimul Islam filed a case with Pirganj police station on September 1.
During the initial interrogation law enforcers have learned that Nayan Chandra Roy is the kingpin of the cartel. All of its members used to work in different professions in Ashulia area of Dhaka. A total of 10/12 members are working for the nexus which has been robing north-bound buses for long time.
