State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmood Chowdhury participated in the opening ceremony of third edition of Global Maritime India Summit 2023 (GMIS 2023) in Mumbai on Tuesday.
Indian minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal invited Khalid to attend the programme as special guest. Sonowal is also the minister of Ayush in India.
These information have been informed in a press release of the Ministry of Shipping sent by Senior Information Officer of the ministry Md Jahangir Alam Khan.
Commodore Arif Ahmed Mostafa, chairman of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) also attended the programme.
Participation in the conference will add a new dimension to Bangladesh-India maritime sector cooperation, said the press release.
Promoting good practices in the maritime sector, an appropriate environment will be created to strengthen the relationship and mutual cooperation among the stakeholders including the global maritime industry, policy makers, investors and others, the handout added.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the summit via video conferencing, where he also unveiled a blueprint for the maritime blue economy of his country till 2047.
