Four persons, including a mother and daughter, died after being hit by a train in Kamankhamor area of Kalihati in Tangail.
The incident took place today at around 5:30 am in the Kamankhamor area of Salla Union of the Upazila, next to the Dhaka-Bangabandhu bridge highway.
The deceased are Basanti, Aarti Rani Das, Shanti Rani and Shilpi Rani of Nikrail Das Para area of Bhuiapur Upazila. Shanti Rani and Shilpi Rani are mother and daughter.
According to witnesses, they were going to collect Zakat at around 5:30 in the morning. Four passengers, including a mother and daughter fell under the Dhaka-bound Ekta Express train, which was leaving from North Bengal and died on the spot.
According to Bangabandhu Bridge Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Nazmul, four women were seen early in the morning walking along the railway line. The Ekta Ekpress train hit those four people at the time. They died on the spot. Police are working to recover the body.
