A Dhaka court has ordered former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun to be held for three days in police custody in connection with the murder of garment worker Fazlul Karim.

The decision came after police presented Al-Mamun in front of the court, asking for a 10-day remand to investigate the case further.

The court, however, granted only three days.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, who was arrested on September 3, is accused of being involved in the tragic incident that led to the death of Fazlul Karim during the mass protests in July and August.

The protests were sparked by demands for better workers‍‍` rights and an end to discrimination. Karim was shot while participating in the protests in the Uttara area of Dhaka on August 5.

After being injured in the shooting, Karim was rushed to the Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital. Despite the doctors’ efforts, he passed away from his injuries.

His death sparked outrage, and his brother filed a case against 40 individuals, accusing them of being involved in the incident.

The investigation into Karim’s murder continues as authorities work to piece together the events surrounding his death.

The case has drawn significant public attention due to the violent crackdown on the protests, which were seen by many as a struggle for workers‍‍` rights.

The remand of Al-Mamun will allow the police to question him about his possible role in the incident.

The former IGP’s involvement in the case has raised questions, as many believe he may have had some connection to the events leading up to the violence. The investigation is ongoing, and more details are expected to emerge in the coming days.

Fazlul Karim’s family is seeking justice for his untimely death, and the case has brought renewed focus to the ongoing issues faced by workers in Bangladesh.
