Three to die for killing 5-year-old girl in Madaripur

A Madaripur court on Monday sentenced three people to death and acquitted one in a case filed over the murder of a child in Rajori upazila of the district in 2015.

District and Sessions Judge Nitai Chandra Saha passed the order in the morning.

The convicted were identified as Rajib Hawlader, 25, Rimon Hossain, 25, and Shafiqul Islam Molla, 25. The court also fined Tk50,000 for each convict.

The person who got acquittal in the case is Selim Hawlader, 35.

Rimon was present in the court during the verdict while the rest of the accused are absconding after getting bail.

According to the case statement, the girl went missing after she went to Sendia Jame Mosque to study Arabic on September 20, 2015.

On September 22, the child's father filed the murder case against six named people and four unnamed people with Rajoir police station.

The Imam of the mosque, Shafiqul Islam, confessed to the killing after he was arrested by police.
