2 dead as train hits auto-rickshaw in Cumilla

Two people were killed after a train hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Sadar Dakhkhin upazila of Cumilla today.

The deceased are thought to be the CNG driver and his son," said Jashim Uddin Khandaker, officer-in-charge of Laksham Railway Police Station.

OC Jashim said the Mohanagar express train hit the auto-rickshaw when the three-wheeler was crossing the railway track at Bijoypur- Jailkhanabari point around 4:50pm.

According to locals, the accident was years in the making as there is no railway gate or guard to supervise the level crossing.
