In a recent military operation in the secluded Baklai Para region of Ruma Upazila, Bandarban district, two armed members of the Kuki Chin National Army (KNF) met their demise. The incident unfolded on Sunday, sending shockwaves through the local community. Additionally, two individuals were apprehended following the operation.
Local reports indicate that the bodies were discovered by residents in Baklai and surrounding areas of Ruma and Thanchi on Sunday morning. Although their identities remain unconfirmed, eyewitnesses suggest they were clad in KNF attire. Promptly responding to the alert, law enforcement personnel rushed to the scene to secure the bodies.
Bandarban`s Additional Superintendent of Police, Hossain Md. Raihan Kazemi, affirmed, "Upon receiving reports of the demise of two KNF members, our forces were dispatched to the area. The bodies will undergo examination at Bandarban Sadar Hospital. Concurrently, joint force operations persist across these regions."
This operation follows prior efforts to apprehend KNF affiliates linked to bank robberies in Ruma and Thanchi. Notably, the ongoing joint operation has resulted in the arrest of 78 individuals associated with the KNF, marking significant progress in law enforcement efforts in the region.
