Two persons were arrested over the attack and robbing of two Iranian nationals during a "mob attack" in the capital`s Bashundhara Residential Area yesterday afternoon, reports The Daily Star.
The arrestees are Abdullah, 20, and Sabbir Mia, 19, confirmed Vatara Police Station Sub-Inspector Habibur Rahman.
Earlier, Vatara Police Station Assistant Sub-Inspector Chhoton Chandra Das filed a case with the police station in connection with the attack.
According to police, the two Iranian nationals were injured and allegedly robbed of cash and mobile phones during the attack. They had arrived in Bangladesh two days prior and planned to stay for a month.
A video of the mob attack circulated on social media following the incident.
The injured Iranians were taken to Kurmitola General Hospital for treatment. They were later escorted back to their Banani hotel.
