United Nations high commissioner for human rights Michelle Bachelet arrived Dhaka on a four-day visit on Sunday morning as Bangladesh looks forward to having a ‘constructive dialogue’ with her for the promotion and protection of human rights.
Foreign minister AK Abdul Momen received Bachelet at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport upon her arrival at about 10:20am.
On her four-day visit, Bachelet is expected to hold a series of meetings with government officials, youth representatives, civil society leaders, and academics in Dhaka and meet forcibly replaced Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar.
According to the draft programme, Bachelet will hold the first meeting with foreign minister AK Abdul Momen before meeting law minister Anisul Huq and home minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday.
On the second day of her visit, she will meet a few selected human rights workers and organisations and travel to Cox’s Bazar.
