After the meeting with the US Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anthony Blinken, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. AK Abdul Momen said that the United States wants to see the next parliamentary elections in Bangladesh free and fair.
He gave this information to media on Monday (April 10), in Washington.
Dr. Momen said, "Blinken talked about the election. They want free and fair elections. He asked to select a model. I also said we have the same purpose. We will of course select a model. We are committed to conduct free, fair, acceptable and credible elections. The government is determined in this regard. But I want your help in this regard. You also help us to have a free, fair and acceptable election."
The meeting discussed various bilateral and other issues of mutual interest including strengthening and diversification of economic partnership, solving the Rohingya crisis, climate change, labor rights, civil liberties and elections.
This meeting was held to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
