A supporter of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) was killed in the Logang Union of Khagrachari`s Panchari. The incident occurred around 9 PM on Saturday, June 9, in the Dudokchara Seemanapara area, according to Shafiul Azam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Panchari police station. No case has been filed regarding the incident yet.
The deceased has been identified as Barun Bikash Chakma, 55, son of Sudhir Kumar Chakma of Kamal Krishna Karbari Para in Logang Union.
Angya Marma, Khagrachari district organizer and central spokesperson of UPDF, blamed the Santul Larma-led Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samiti (JSS) for the murder. He stated, "Barun was shot dead by terrorists at his home at night. He died in his house. He was a supporter of our party."
No JSS leaders have commented on the incident so far.
