Vaccine to be exported after fulfilling domestic demand: Health Minister

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque said coronavirus vaccine would be exported after meeting the domestic demand.

The minister was speaking as the special guest at the inauguration ceremony of Oasis, a drug addiction treatment and mental health counseling center in Dhaka's Keraniganj on Thursday (October 7).

At the time, the health minister said, "The World Health Organization has promised us that they will give us all the support we need to produce coronavirus vaccine." After producing the vaccine, Bangladesh will be able to export it abroad.

He added, "We have administered 80 lakh doses of vaccine in a single day – an extraordinary move many countries could not accomplish yet. Hopefully we will be able to administer more than 80 lakh vaccine shots in a single day on the occasion of Victory Day.

The ceremony was presided by Bangladesh Inspector General of Police Dr Benazir Ahmed, while Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal was present as the chief guest. State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid joined as the special guest. Dhaka Range DIG Habibur Rahman were among the others who spoke at the event.
