The trial date of a graft case against expelled Jubo League leader Golam Kibria Shamim, also known as GK Shamim, and his seven bodyguards has been shifted for July 17.
Judge Md Nazrul Islam of Dhaka`s Special Court-10 issued the order because he could not prepare the judgment, according to a court official.
Following the conclusion of both parties` arguments, the judge earlier scheduled today for the execution of the judgment in the case filed against Shamim for laundering Tk 195 crore to Singapore and Malaysia.
So far, the judge has taken statements from 23 prosecution witnesses, including the case`s plaintiff.
The same court filed charges against Shamim, a government contractor, and his bodyguards in the case on November 10, 2020.
On August 4, 2020, the Criminal Investigation Department filed a charge sheet against the defendants.
On September 20, 2019, Shamim was arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion on extortion and tender manipulation charges. His bodyguards were also detained. RAB afterwards filed three cases against Shamim with the Gulshan Police Station.
Another Dhaka tribunal condemned Shamim and his seven bodyguards to lifetime imprisonment in an arms case on September 25 of last year.
