A writ petition has been filed seeking directives to enact half fare at all public and private bus, launch and train for students.
Lawyer Yunus Ali Akand confirmed the matter to the media on Wednesday (November 24).
The fare at all public transports was increased this month after the fuel price was raised. However, the students demanded half-pass at public transports.
Protesters took to streets at Science Lab, Farmgate and several other areas in the capital to press the demand.
Owners of buses and trucks called for an indefinite strike in early November seeking a hike in fare. Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) held a meeting with the transport workers on November 7.
There was no discussion regarding the half fare issue, BRTA sources said.
