Brac evacuating Bangladeshi employees from Afghanistan

With Afghanistan standing at the most precarious political situation, Brac International has aided to evacuate 14 expatriate staff from the country, including 12 Brac employees.

Taliban has already taken control of the key states of the country, and is very close to taking over the whole nation.

On Saturday (August 14), the international organization stated in a press release that out of their 3,000 employees in Afghanistan in 10 Afghan provinces, 19 are foreign nationals and 15 are Bangladeshis.

In the press release it is also mentioned that since Friday, relocation of employees to their own countries is in progress. Some of them have already boarded flights. And those who left Afghanistan for holidays, have been advised not to return.

"Brac International is implementing mitigation measures to minimise the risks for the safety and security of our staff and the communities we serve, which is our highest concern," said Shameran Abed, executive director of Brac International.
