Dengue cases in Bangladesh continue to rise, with 425 new hospital admissions reported in the last 24 hours.

Among the new patients, 120 are from areas outside the Barishal City Corporation, indicating a sharp rise in infections in regional zones.

During the same 24-hour period, three more dengue-related deaths were recorded, pushing the total death toll for the year to 51.

According to the latest update from health authorities, a total of 13,188 people have been hospitalized with dengue fever since January.

The current month of July has already seen 2,892 new admissions and 9 deaths, showing a concerning trend as the monsoon season intensifies.

At present, 1,351 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals. Of them, 386 are being treated in Dhaka, while the remaining 965 are admitted in hospitals across other divisions.

Data from the Directorate General of Health Services indicates a gradual rise in cases throughout the year. In January, there were 1,161 cases and 10 deaths. February recorded 374 cases and 3 deaths, while March had 336 cases with no fatalities. In April, the number rose to 701 with 7 deaths, and in May, 1,773 people were hospitalized and 3 died.

Although this year‍‍`s outbreak has not yet reached the severity of previous years, the growing number of cases is raising concern.

Health experts attribute the increase to seasonal factors such as standing water during heavy rains, which accelerates mosquito breeding.

Authorities have urged the public to take preventive measures, including eliminating stagnant water and using mosquito protection, to reduce the risk of further spread.
