A total of 600,660 students failed to pass this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations in Bangladesh. Of the 19,04,086 students who sat for the exams, only 13,03,426 passed, according to the results published on Thursday, July 10.
Among the unsuccessful candidates, 324,716 were male and 275,944 were female.
The results cover students from nine general education boards, as well as the Madrasa and Technical Education Boards, who took their exams across 3,714 centers from 30,088 educational institutions nationwide.
Under the general education boards, 14,79,310 students appeared in the SSC exams. Of them, 10,06,554 passed, while 4,72,756 students did not make the pass mark.
From the Madrasa Education Board, 2,86,572 students appeared for the Dakhil examination, with 1,95,115 passing and 91,457 failing.
Meanwhile, under the Technical Education Board, 1,38,204 students took the exams, of whom 1,01,757 passed and 36,447 failed.
The results reflect a significant number of students struggling to meet the pass criteria across all streams of secondary education in the country.
