Following a one-day halt as cyclone Hamoon faded into a deep depression, all types of operations at Chattogram Port, including the loading, unloading, and delivery of containers and bulk goods, resumed this morning.
The 22 vessels that officials had yesterday afternoon despatched to deeper water from jetties began to be brought back by the port`s pilots at around 5:00am.
According to Md Omar Faruk, secretary of the Chattogram Port Authority (CPA), 13 of the 22 vessels have already been towed back to various jetties during the morning tide between 5:00am and 9:00am.
He added that the remaining ships would be hauled back during the following high tide in the afternoon. He said that loading and unloading of containers and bulk cargo to and from these ships began after 10:00am.
According to the CPA official, container and freight delivery from the port yards has also started up again in full force.
