Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has issued strict orders for market monitoring to control prices. This directive was given to the State Minister for Commerce during a Cabinet meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday. The information was disclosed by Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain during a press briefing at the Secretariat in the afternoon.

Mahbub Hossain stated, "The Prime Minister today instructed the State Minister for Commerce to enforce rigorous market monitoring and to pay close attention to market conditions. Ensuring the steady supply of goods in the market is crucial."

He further added, "Despite an adequate supply of some goods, there is an artificial increase in prices. Therefore, the Prime Minister has specifically directed the State Minister for Commerce to address this issue through stringent market monitoring."

The recent increase of 7 Taka in the dollar rate has already impacted the market. When questioned about the logic behind increasing the strictness of market monitoring amid rising dollar prices, the Secretary responded, "You should ask the State Minister for Commerce this question. I am here to communicate the Prime Minister‍‍`s directive. Let the State Minister for Commerce work on the Prime Minister‍‍`s instructions first, and then you can ask him this question for further clarification."
