EC seeks information on magistrates deployed in last 3 national elections

The Election Commission (EC) of Bangladesh has requested detailed information about magistrates who were deployed alongside law enforcement agencies during the last three national elections held in 2014, 2018, and 2024.

The request comes following an inquiry by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI). In response, the EC recently issued an official letter signed by Deputy Secretary Mohammad Monir Hossain, directing all Divisional Commissioners of Dhaka and Chattogram, as well as all Deputy Commissioners (DCs), to provide the necessary data.

The letter specifies that, for the sake of a fair investigation and justice in a case filed with the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), the PBI has sought personal details of all magistrates who were assigned during the elections.

These details include name, father‍‍`s and mother‍‍`s names, permanent and present address, NID number, passport number (if any), and mobile number.

Earlier, the EC had also asked for similar personal information regarding returning officers, presiding officers, assistant presiding officers, and polling officers who were involved in conducting the 2014, 2018, and 2024 national elections.
